The Office of Service-Learning

Due to budget cuts in February 2008, the office of Service-Learning and the position of Director have been eliminated.

• Meets with new faculty & first year students annually to discuss opportunities, resources, professional development & events.

• Encourages faculty to include Service-Learning components in their courses.

• Consults with faculty to explore possibilities, to define community needs & partners, to network with other colleagues & to develop a curriculum plan that includes Service-Learning.

• Provides a list of community partners & possible projects.

• Offers funding through UMF, Maine Campus Compact (MCC) & National grants to assist in costs for implementation & exploration.

• Participates as a member of the Maine Campus Compact (MCC) Steering Committee. (MCC makes available workshops, institutes, grants, faculty consultants & student workshops, conferences and opportunities.)

• Invites faculty to contact her with their ideas.
